Call waiting- two calls at the same time
If you are using your mobile and someone else tries to ring you, they will normally get the engaged tone or be diverted to your mobile's voicemail service.
You can choose to enable Call Waiting, so that an incoming call causes a discreet "beep" in your ear, and the phone's display tells you that a call is waiting, (and the number or name of the caller if available). You can choose to end your current call, or put it on hold and answer the new call, or you can choose not to answer the new call.
How to switch it on or off
Call waiting can usually be enabled or disabled by using the menus of your phone. See the manual for details.
Alternatively, use the GSM codes to set, query or unset Call Waiting.
- To switch call waiting on for voice calls, enter *43*11# [send]
- To switch Call waiting off, enter #43# [send]
- To discover what the current Call Waiting status is, enter *#43# [send]
How to use it
Most mobile phones offer in-call menus which let you choose what to do with a waiting call (see your handset's manual), but there are underlying GSM codes that almost always work and are probably quicker and easier than using the menus.
- To end the current call, and answer the call that is waiting, press 1 [send]
- To put the current call on hold and answer the call that is waiting, press 2 [send]
- To keep talking to the current call and refuse the call that is waiting, press 0 [send] The waiting call will be treated as a call to a "busy" number
Conference calls
Orange also allows you to join several calls together. You pay for a call to each other person, but everyone can hear each other. Useful, as long as you don't get confused.
