The museum of mobile phones

As technology speeds ahead, today's latest model soon becomes old and unwanted. The way that handsets are currently subsidised can make it cheaper to buy a new mobile phone than to replace a worn-out battery. They are becoming almost disposable.

Nokia 2140Some models, for example the early Motorola 8000 series "brick" phones, and more recent phones like the Nokia Orange (2140) have already become known as classics. Other, less memorable, handsets have been well-loved by their users.

The rapid pace of development has also meant that some companies have grown frantically to keep up with demand, producing more and better equipment using state-of-the-art production techniques. The old methods soon get forgotten.

This page is little more than a plea for someone to take stock and possibly set up a mobile phone museum where all this history can be recorded and chronicled.

Does anyone know of an existing mobile phone collection in a museum?
