Normally, when you sign up for a mobile phone contract, you buy a new handset at the same time. If you already have a handset and want to convert it to Pay As You Go, you can buy a sim only package.

Orange

You can buy an Orange sim-only pack for £1.00 online. This gives you a connection to an Orange PAYG tariff.See the Orange PAYG page.

Vodafone

Vodafone sim-only packs cost £1.99 online, giving up to £3.00 free credit on a PAYG tariff.

You can also have a contract sim-only package which is only available online. The sim card is free and you can choose from four different packages, Anytime 125, Anytime 200, Anytime 350 or Vodafone Evening and Weekend tariff.

The cost is the same as for the normal price plan, but with double minutes and 1,000 free texts.

You can purchase a sim card for £9.99 from Selfridges, Superdrug or any 3 store. As long as you have a suitable phone,you can then receive calls, but in order to make calls you must purchase a ThreePay top-up.
