Orange Data Tariffs

To transfer data, you have several options. You can add GPRS to your existing phone package, either as a bundle or ‘pay as you use’. You can buy a Mobile Office Card and plug it into your computer, using GPRS or 3G where available. You can also make a data call using the mobile phone equivalent of a modem.
Data calls over mobiles normally run at 9.6 kbit/sec, charged by time connected. Orange offer the alternative of high-speed data at up to 28.8 kbit/sec and a higher per-minute cost. GPRS downloads at a nominal maximum speed of 43kbit/sec, charged by the amount of data transferred. 3G downloads at a nominal maximum speed of 384kbit/sec, charged by the amount of data transferred.
3G and GPRS slow down when there is poor signal or a lot of other traffic to the local base station, but in general 3G is a bit slower than broadband and GPRS is a bit slower than a fixed-line modem.
World Access add-on bundle or Mobile Office tariff
This table shows the GPRS and 3G data prices. Note that World Access is a GPRS only add-on bundle to an existing contract*. Mobile Office are stand alone contracts (with their own phone number) which can also use the much faster 3G network and send and receive text messages (standard 10p rate), but do not support voice calls.
*You can also add World Access 4 to a PAYG.

Mobile Office is only available with a Mobile Office Data Card and Orange Care is available at £5.00 per month.
Note that sometimes Orange charge £10 per megabyte. This is an error, caused by not being on any GPRS tariff. If it happens, call 150 and get it sorted out!
