Coverage

Vodafone's coverage is widespread in the UK, claiming 99% population coverage. For details, see the Coverage section.

TrafficMaster Personal Roadwatch 1800

This £29.99 device gives location specific, in car traffic reports, direct to your phone.

It alerts you to traffic congestion up to 15 miles or at least 2 junctions ahead of major motorways and helps you to avoid troublespots and delays.

It provides fast-dial access to detailed traffic reports via your mobile phone, by dialling 1800. You are charged 45p/min at all times, plus an extra 14p/min if you speak to an operator. PAYG is 59p/min at all times.

Dial 1740 for RAC traffic information. It costs 49p/min peak, 39p/min off-peak, 59p/min PAYG.

Infoline

This gives traffic, share price, stock market, BA flights and AA service information. Dial 222 to connect. It costs 35p per min, minimum 60 seconds. There is a special number (4444) for AA members.

Scoot

Call 333 free for information and classified phone directory information of local shops and services. You can also be SMS'd the number they read you: very handy!

Multi-sim

Vodafone offer a service that will allow you to have up to 10 sims on an account. You can "Nominate" which sim is to be "live" by entering codes at the keypad. Each sim is a member of your group, has a Member code, and you can choose to activate any sim (or more to the point, the phone it is in) by dialling *131n# where n is the member number of the sim to be live. If you just dial *131#, the phone you dialled from is selected. To find out which member number a sim has, dial *#130#

Because this is a HLR function, you can use this system and these commands when roaming.

Of course, Vodafone charges an additional monthly line rental for this service.
