Costs and call charges
Orange offer contract, bundle and PAYG connections and a range of price plans. See the Orange pages of the Costs section for details.
Cost of Calling 0800/0500 "free" numbers: Free (not from PAYG), except for numbers identified as "calling card access number".
Orange also have a scheme called the Orange Value Promise (OVP) which allows you to choose more or less any "popular" tariff of a competitor, which they will match as precisely as possible.
Coverage
Orange claim 98% population coverage of the UK, and usually have the best call setup and completion rates of all the networks.

Other services
Orange built itself a reputation for technical innovation. Orange was the first to offer CLI, SMS and per-second billing. They were the only UK network offering Wildfire, a computer-simulated personal assistant (see the Wildfire page of the User Technical section for details). Wildfire is no longer available to join, though existing Wildfire users can keep it for the time being.
Orange Every Phone Diverted calls to another phone, remotely if necessary. Diverts to UK fixed lines or to Orange phones are free. Note that Orange are discontinuing this excellent service. Orange have discontinued this service.
Network Performance Promise If a call drops, and you redial, Orange will credit up to one minute's call charge automatically.
Rollover Minutes If you don't use all your call allowance, minutes from that month roll over to the next month.
Orange Care Insurance against theft, loss or damage, with a replacement delivered to you within 24 hours. Free for business customers on Your Plan.
Answer Fax The Orange Answerphone can accept faxes, and will inform you of them by SMS, and forward them to the number of your choice.
14 day money back guarantee If you're not happy with the Orange service, they offer a 14-day moneyback guarantee. You just pay for the calls you made.
Conference Calls Orange offers conference calls.
Information Access A range of news, business and sport services, giving information by voice or SMS call or SMS 177 - 39p/min peak, 29p/min off-peak, 10p per SMS (25p for share prices).
RAC Traffic Alert Up-to-date traffic reports from TrafficMaster and the RAC. Call 1740 - 49p/minute peak, 39p/minute off-peak.
Line 2 A second line, with a separate phone number, optionally billed separately. Useful for keeping work and home calls apart, or to gain the benefits of two different tariffs.
Local Number A local phone number on your mobile phone - you pay 10p/min for the mobile part of the incoming call charges.
Orange Messenger An answering service that takes calls for you and sends the message to you by SMS. 25p per message. Divert calls to +447973 100 124.
Orange Assistant Similar to Messenger, but you can choose a custom greeting, and pay a monthly charge for the service.
Data Orange offers WAP services and GPRS and a high speed data system, allowing data speeds at up to 28.8, but with higher call charges.
